SALT LAKE CITY -- Rumors of RSL head coach Jason Kreis coaching the new MLS club in New York started back in September, and were brought up again Monday when Brian Straus of Sports Illustrated tweeted that a deal between Kreis and NYCFC is “almost 100 percent.”
Kreis was asked about the latest report after practice on Monday.
“I have no response,” Kreis said. “It’s the same response for the last eight weeks. My focus is on this team and it will continue to be on this team and this club and doing everything I can for the next five days, and then after that I’ll go into hiding for three days and try to make a decision.”
The head coach was later asked if the result of the MLS Cup Final will impact his decision.
“I don’t think so,” Kreis said. “I view what this club has done, what this team in particular has done this year as already a success for me. The result this weekend is icing on the cake or insignificant to my decision.”
RSL will play Sporting Kansas City in the MLS Cup Final this Saturday.
