WEST VALLEY CITY -- It was four years ago today that Susan Cox Powell vanished from her home.

She has never been found.

The disappearance triggered searches that stretched over years, and scrutiny on her husband, Josh Powell, who was considered a "person of interest" in the case. It also brought scrutiny on the West Valley City Police Department for its handling of the missing persons case -- which was closed earlier this year and remains officially unsolved.

Josh Powell killed himself and the couple's children in February 2012 in a home in Washington state.

To remember Susan, her friends and family held a vigil at 7 p.m. Friday at the Christmas Box Angel statue at the Salt Lake City Cemetery. They also collected donations in Susan's name for the Christmas Box House, a place that helps abused children.
