SALT LAKE CITY – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held their annual Christmas devotional at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake City Sunday.
The hour-long program included music from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra, as well as Christmas messages from LDS Church leaders.
LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson opened the program by speaking about the reason for the Christmas season and the meaning of the holiday.
“Our celebration of Christmas should be a reflection of the love and selflessness taught by the savior,” he said. “Giving, not getting, brings to full bloom the Christmas spirit.”
Other speakers included Russell M. Nelson, who is a member of the church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles; Ronald A. Rasbad, who is a member of the church’s Quorum of the Seventy; and Rosemary M. Wixom, who is the general president of the LDS Church’s Primary.
