Local Cub Scouts spread Christmas cheer to kids in the community

Posted

SANDY, Utah – A group of Cub Scouts from Sandy helped out other children just in time for Christmas.

Members of Pack 3411 collected shoe boxes full of toys and treats and wrapped them, and the group dropped the packages off Saturday at the Ronald McDonald House.

The scouts placed the presents, which will go to children in need, under the tree themselves. The scouts helped pick out the contents of the packages, and they wrote a short letter to the children receiving the gift. Leaders said it was part of their annual fall service project.

Chris Douglas is the committee chair for Pack 3411, and he said events like these help the boys learn.

"Teaching the boys to give back to the community, it's a great feeling when a project comes to the end and we can bring these presents into the Ronald McDonald House for kids that will need them this Christmas season," he said.

Officials at the Ronald McDonald House said the effort helps spread joy to those calling the house their home this winter.
