IRON COUNTY — The suspect in an officer-involved shooting in Kanarraville, Friday, has been identified.

Grant Louis Biedermann, 41, was treated at Valley View Medical Center for a grazing bullet wound to the head. He was later booked into the Iron County Jail.

According to a press release from the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, Biederman developed a brain bleed and was flown to a hospital in northern Utah.

The shooting incident happened at about 2:45 p.m., said Deputy Chuck Triplett with the sheriff’s office.

Triplett said officers were responding to a call about a suicidal individual. He said when officers arrived the man came outside, then went back inside the residence and came back out with a weapon and tried to shoot the officers.

The officers returned fire, and one of them was hit, as was the suspect.

Deputy Kellen Hudson, 27, received a minor gunshot wound to the hip. He was treated at the hospital and released.

Hudson will be off duty until the investigation is complete. According to the release this is normal procedure for all officers involved in shootings.
