1 dead, 1 in jail after car accident in Springville

SPRINGVILLE, Utah –A man was killed and another man was taken to a jail after a vehicle accident in Springville Sunday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Springville Department of Public Safety, the accident occurred at 1400 North Main Street at about 2:30 p.m. when a man driving a Jeep Liberty failed to stop for a red light.

The Jeep was northbound on Main Street when the driver failed to stop, which is when a westbound Honda Accord struck the Jeep broadside. The driver of the Honda, Worth R. Rummage, was killed. Rummage lives in North Carolina and was in Springville visiting family for the Christmas holiday, according to the press release.

Bryan Long, 48, of Springville was driving the Jeep, and he was not seriously injured. According to the press release, Long was “transported to the Utah County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence of prescription medication and automobile homicide.”
