AMERICAN FORK, Utah – A man is dead, and an individual sustained minor injuries after a two-vehicle accident in American Fork Sunday.
The accident occurred around 5:14 p.m. when an eastbound passenger vehicle crossed into westbound traffic on Pioneer Crossing Road and was hit broadside by a pickup truck.
Lt. Sam Liddiard of the American Fork Police Department said the drivers of the two vehicles were the sole occupants. The 33-year-old male drive of the car that moved into traffic died on the scene. The driver of the pickup truck was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. There were no other injuries reported.
The name of the deceased has not been released.
Liddiard said alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors, and he said, while the investigation is ongoing, initially it appears as if distracted driving was a factor in the crash.
