AMERICAN FORK, Utah — The Utah Avalanche Center reports a large avalanche in the upper part of American Fork Canyon Tuesday afternoon was most likely triggered by snowmobilers.
According to a statement from the UAC’s Brett Kobernik, the avalanche was probably triggered from below.
Alta Ski Patrol members responded to the scene and did not see anybody in a search of the avalanche debris.
“Two snowmobilers were seen riding in the vicinity [afterwards], so it is assumed that no one was caught,” Kobernik’s statement said.
