SALT LAKE CITY -- For those people who couldn’t be home for Christmas there was still a place for them to go – the Salt Lake City Mission put together a Christmas dinner at the Centro de Vida center.
More than two thousand people showed up to socialize and have some turkey, yams potatoes, and gravy.
Serving warm meals is something they do all year long, but volunteers made a special effort to make sure everyone was at the dinner table.
”We are busing people in. We have two buses going around to all the venues,” said Brad Jaques. “We are going to the road home, the rescue mission, the overflow.“
It was more than just good food; the mission also gave children toys and families clothes to get through the winter.
“It makes me feel good and visit people. It makes me feel happy inside,” said David Shadowens, who took part in the meal.
