PROVO, Utah -- One person died Wednesday after being involved in an auto-pedestrian accident, and Thursday police set up an account to accept donations for the victim's three young daughters.

Police identified the victim as 42-year-old Rosa Merino, a single mother who is survived by three daughters ages 12, 14 and 16.

Officers said Merino was struck by a pickup truck around 6:20 a.m. near the intersection of 700 North and University Avenue in Provo. Police said the 49-year-old driver of the truck was distracted. A Provo prosecutor is screening possible charges against the driver.

According to the Provo Police Department's Facebook page, paramedics on scene were able to establish a pulse, but Merino later died.

Provo's Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 23 has set up the donation account, and those interested in helping can donate to "The Three Merino Girls" at any Wells Fargo bank.
