(CNN) — A Texas jury found onetime Dallas Cowboys tackle Josh Brent guilty of intoxication manslaughter Wednesday in the 2012 wreck that killed a friend and teammate.
Brent, 25, faces two to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000 when he appears for sentencing Thursday. He was convicted Wednesday afternoon in the fiery crash that killed Jerry Brown Jr., a passenger in Brent’s Mercedes.
Brown, 25, was an outside linebacker on the Dallas practice squad. Family members said he and Brent were “like brothers” and “the best of friends.”
