KAYSVILLE, Utah – A former Kaysville girl’s basketball coach accused of sexually abusing a minor has reached a plea deal with prosecutors
Stephen Niedzwiecki originally faced 11 charges relating to an alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old student.
On Thursday, Niedzwiecki pleaded guilty to reduced charges—four third-degree felonies all related to unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
The victim of the abuse is now speaking out, and Jamie Heinar said she feels her story should be shared.
“On the sentencing day, I have a victim impact statement prepared, and I’ve also written my story out from my point of view because I don’t feel that the victims point of view has been heard,” she said.
FOX 13 News does not normally name victims in such cases, but Heinar said she wanted her voice to be heard. She will read her victim impact statement at a sentencing hearing scheduled for March 21.
