SALT LAKE CITY – More than two dozen soldiers received a warm welcome home Friday as they returned from a 9-month deployment, during which they served in Afghanistan.

Spouses and children of the members of the Utah Army National Guard’s 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade could barely contain their excitement as their loved ones came out of the terminal.

Lt. Ryan Johnson said it was good to be home.

“It feels amazing, really happy, I’ve had a supportive wife and family, so I am really happy to be back with them,” he said.

The soldiers were conducting defense operations for the U.S. military as part of the government’s efforts to drawdown in Afghanistan.
