PROVO — A mother and her two children were displaced early Saturday morning after their home was destroyed in a fire, officials said Saturday.
Leticia Quesada noticed a smell of smoke in her trailer and woke her two daughters Kenya Huertado and Giselle Huertado, according to a press release from Provo Fire and Rescue. After their escape Quesada called the fire department.
At approximately midnight Provo Fire crews responded to Brough Trailer park, 860 W. Columbia Lane. When crews arrived the trailer was fully involved.
The blaze was put out in about 30 minutes. Investigators determined the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction.
The fire caused about $80,000 worth of damage. The trailer is likely a total loss, fire officials said.
The Red Cross assisted the family with a place to stay after the fire.
