WEST JORDAN, Utah -- A 22-year-old man is dead after being involved in a car crash in West Jordan Tuesday morning.

The crash happened on Old Bingham Highway near 5700 West and 9800 South.

Police said the driver was heading westbound when he lost control and hit a power pole-- knocking it down and clipping another power pole.

Officers said the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. They said the passenger in the car suffered broken bones, but managed to walk to a TRAX station to get help.

Police said it's too early to tell what caused the driver to lose control. They are currently investigating if drugs or alcohol were factors.

Power in some buildings in the area will be out while crews work to fix the power poles.
