DUCHESNE COUNTY, Utah – One person is dead after a crash in Duchesne County on Thursday.

Utah Highway Patrol officials say a semi tanker with a trailer loaded with crude oil was driving down a hill near 8700 South Perriette Road in Duchesne County when the vehicle lost traction.

The trailer jackknifed and slid around the side of the truck and across the road, colliding with a Dodge pickup truck that was driving in the other direction.

The driver of the Dodge truck, identified as 49-year-old Dean Townshend of Roosevelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say the road conditions were icy.
