WEST JORDAN, Utah -- Four to five West Jordan homes were under threat of flooding after a canal breach early Wednesday morning.
None of the homes actually sustained any damage, but firefighters said debris and tumbleweeds plugged a canal gate and caused water to spill over canal banks near 9300 S 3900 W.
Homeowner Sherie Swartz said she has dealt with several canal breaches before.
"Luckily, we kept [our sandbags] from last year. This last week, I had put them up against the back sliding glass [door]." Swartz said. "We were half an inch from coming in the house."
Fire crews were able to pump much of the water away from the houses that were threatened Wednesday morning.
