PETERSBURG, Virginia (CNN) — A nationwide manhunt is underway for a Virginia man who police want to question in connection with the deaths of four members of a family, including a 2-year-old boy.

The U.S. Marshals Service and Petersburg Police are searching for Alexander Roosevelt Hill Jr., 47. They say Hill, known as “Real Deal,” is considered armed and dangerous and is known to carry a 9mm handgun.

Last Saturday morning, police and firefighters in Petersburg responded to a house fire at the home of Hill’s former girlfriend, Vivian Chavis, authorities said. They found the bodies of four of Chavis’ family members, including her 2-year-old son. Chavis was not home at the time.

Court records indicate at least two of the bodies had puncture wounds.

Chavis had recently sought a protective order against Hill, according to Kevin Connolly, who supervises the U.S. Marshals Service’s Richmond-area Fugitive Task Force. Hill also is being sought for allegedly violating that order.

Hill had been scheduled to stand trial last Wednesday for allegedly making a threatening phone call to Chavis, but he did not show up and an arrest warrant was issued, said Connolly.

A $5,000 reward has been offered for information leading to Hill’s arrest.
