SALT LAKE CITY -- Officials from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People say their organization is investigating the death of teenager in Stansbury Park to see if it was racially motivated.
Jessie Horowitz was stabbed to death Saturday morning in Tooele. Police say a fight between at least a dozen teens led to Horowitz’s death.
Horowitz was African-American.
“The NAACP is investigating to determine if anything had to do with race and in order to be able to determine that we would need to do a little research and investigation to determine that and penalties based on the fact it’s a young man17 years old and the others are 19 and 20, and make sure the penalties reflect the severity of the crime,” said Jeanetta Williams, president of NAACP Salt Lake Branch.
