HUDSONVILLE, Mich. — A teen in Michigan who is getting ready for graduation says she never would have made it without the help of her loyal service animal, and after she outfitted the dog with a cap and gown the heartwarming story went viral.
FOX 13 News sister station WXMI FOX 17 in Michigan reports that Desi, a senior at Freedom Christian high School who asked that her last name not be published, struggles with her balance and other issues due to cerebral palsy.
Four years ago Desi was paired with Walton, a golden retriever, and the four-legged companion has helped make the teen more independent. Before meeting Walton, Desi struggled to walk and navigate the obstacles school presents.
She told WXMI FOX 17: “There was no way I could make it through a day walking, I have no stamina. Without him I really couldn’t have been able to do this at all.”
