OGDEN, Utah – A man who was caught on camera exposing himself to a young child in a Layton Target Store was in court Thursday, where he accepted a deal.
Miles Blakeley, 23, was facing a dozen criminal counts stemming from the incident in February in which he exposed himself to a young child immediately after her guardian moved out of sight.
Blakeley and his attorneys struck a deal, and during what was supposed to be a pre-trial hearing Blakeley pleaded guilty to four of the 12 charges he faced. The counts he pleaded guilty to are two felony counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and two misdemeanor counts of lewdness involving a child. The other counts were dismissed.
Blakeley was apprehended after surveillance footage of the incident was reviewed. Police released that footage to show parents how quickly such things can occur, as Blakeley exposed himself to the child within seconds of the guardian turning a corner. That surveillance video is available below.
He has been in the Davis County Jail since his arrest. Investigators said they found child pornography on Blakeley’s phone at the time of his arrest.
Blakeley is scheduled to be sentenced June 19, and he faces the possibility of prison time and will likely end up on the Utah sex offender registry.
WARNING: While the video has been edited to protect the victim’s privacy and to obscure the lewd act, some viewers may find the footage disturbing.
