SALT LAKE CITY — A taxi cab driver was transported to a hospital in serious condition after he was robbed and stabbed Wednesday night, a statement from the Salt Lake City Police Department said.
Police responded to 910 N 900 W after they were notified of the incident around 11:10 p.m.
According to an SLCPD watch log report, the cab driver picked up a man who requested to be returned to his original pick-up location after a short ride in the cab.
When they arrived, the suspect allegedly ordered the driver out of the taxi cab and took his cellphone and wallet.
The victim told police he then felt “sharp punches” in his back. Those punches turned out to be multiple stab wounds.
The suspect was described as a black male, about 6 feet tall with afro-style hair. He was wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.
