GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — Two bass fishermen were arrested in Alabama last week for allegedly using previously-caught fish in tournaments, according to a report by WHNT-TV.
Gary Minor Jr. and Robert Gillaspie allegedly held bass in an underwater pen, then claimed the bass were caught in tournaments on Lake Guntersville, where dozens of fishing tournaments are held every year, the report said.
Minor and Gillaspie face misdemeanor charges of “tampering with sport contest” – a relatively minor offense in the court system, but very serious to the people who make a living on the lake.
