SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints issued a statement after a missionary serving with the LDS Church was killed and his companion injured in a vehicle crash in Honduras.
LDS Church Spokesman Cody Craynor stated that Elder Angel de Jesus Martinez Campos, 27, of Usulutan, El Salvador died May 22 of injuries sustained during a vehicle crash. The missionary had been serving with the LDS Church since October 2013.
Elder George B. Lewis of Francis, Utah, was injured in the accident, “but is expected to recover.” The statement did not provide Elder Lewis’ age or specific details regarding the nature and severity of his injuries.
Further details about the crash were not provided.
