MOORE, Utah — The Emery County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the couple who died Sunday afternoon in an ATV crash in the San Rafael Desert.

Emery County officials were first notified of the crash, which occurred at the far west end of Eagle Canyon, shortly after 3 p.m.

Hubert Rober Issel, 70, and his wife, 64-year-old Alana Lea Issel, both died when their vehicle came up to a steep rocky ledge, rolled off an established trail and then went off an 80-100 foot cliff.

Two of Hubert and Alana Issel’s grandchildren, ages seven and eight, were critically injured in the crash and were transported out of the area by medical helicopters.

The vehicle was described as a Can-Am side-by-side ATV.

According to a press release from the Emery County Sheriff’s Office, a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter will be dispatched Tuesday to recover the ATV.
