PROVO, Utah – Utah County authorities are searching for a suspect accused of trying to abduct a 9-year-old boy Wednesday.
Police said the suspect allegedly tried to kidnap the boy who was walking to Sunset View Elementary at about 8:30 a.m.
The suspect grabbed the boy’s arm but the child was able to get away and ran home.
“The student escaped, ran and hid in a friend’s yard and, after he felt safe, he ran home and told his parents what happened,” said Provo School District spokesman Caleb Price.
Provo Police said the suspect is a white man with a medium build and black hair that was slicked back into a mullet-style cut.
Officers said the suspect was last seen wearing a light blue long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans and blue shoes.
