SALT LAKE CITY – Police are searching for a suspect after the individual allegedly fled from police and then rammed a police vehicle to escape after officers tried to box the vehicle in.

Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department said an officer observed a vehicle in the area of 3900 South Highland Drive, and that vehicle matched the description of a vehicle suspected in several vehicle burglaries that occurred in the Lake Mary area of Little Cottonwood Canyon.

The vehicle fled from the officer, and in the area of 1100 East 3300 South officers attempted to box the vehicle in. The suspect in the vehicle rammed a Unified Police Department car and escaped, Hoyal said.

Police said the vehicle was later located in the area of 1200 East Blaine St. on the west side of Westminster College. The suspect has not been taken into custody.

There were no reports of injuries. FOX 13 News has a crew on the way to the scene and will have updated information as it becomes available.
