Hayward beats buzzer to lift Jazz over James and the Cavaliers

SALT LAKE CITY -- Gordon Hayward made a shot as time expired to give the Jazz a 102-100 win over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers Wednesday night.

James made a three-pointer to cut the Jazz lead to one with 13 seconds to play, then he made three free throws after drawing a foul while shooting a three-pointer to tie the game at 100 with three seconds to play.

But Hayward’s last-second shot gave the Jazz the victory.

The Jazz played great in the first half, building an 11-point lead at the break. But the Cavaliers rallied back, led by a 34-point night from Kyrie Irving and 31 points from James.

Hayward finished with 21 points and seven assists, and Derrick Favors also scored 21 points with 10 rebounds for the Jazz.

The Jazz are now 2-3 this season, and the Cavaliers fall to 1-3.
