WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — West Valley City police are seeking three suspects who allegedly forced entry into a home, confronted the homeowner, and fatally shot him before fleeing early Saturday morning–and Sunday police identified the victim.
According to a press release from West Valley City Police Department, the murdered man is 63-year-old Steven Louis Valdez.
Police provided few other details Sunday, stating they are, “still sorting through the case and how [Valdez] was involved. Suspects in this case are still outstanding.”
Officers responded to the home in the area of 4200 South Bluejay Street around 1:14 a.m. Saturday where they found signs of a struggle and Valdez dead of a gunshot wound.
Police stated their investigation so far has determined three suspects forced entry into the home while dressed in black and with their faces covered.
They confronted the homeowner and, “One or more of the subjects is believed to have fired a gun multiple times inside the residence,” a press release issued Saturday states.
Police do not have descriptions of the suspects but stated they left the area in a large, dark-colored SUV described as being a model similar to a Suburban.
