UTAH — The Beehive State’s two biggest football teams are both in the Top 25 heading into week 3 after a strong start to the season for both teams.
According to the AP Top 25 Poll results posted Sunday, BYU is ranked No. 19 and Utah is ranked No. 21–with the Utes rising from last week’s spot at No. 24 and BYU breaking into the Top 25 for the first time this season.
The Coaches Poll has BYU ranked No. 22 and Utah ranked No. 21., with the Cougars moving up 8 spots in that ranking while the Utes advanced 4 over the week.

The Cougars were likely propelled into the spotlight based on their two seemingly miraculous last minute wins. A Hail Mary with 1 second left to play gave them an astonishing comeback win over Nebraska in Week 1, and Saturday night in Provo they shocked then-ranked No. 20 Boise State with two last-minute touchdowns–including a 35-yard TD pass on 4th-and-7 with less than a minute remaining.
BYU plays next on September 19 at UCLA. That game is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m. MT.
Utah is also undefeated so far this year, having beat Michigan in their season opener and Utah State on Friday.
The Utes play next on September 19 at Fresno State, and that game is scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.
