PARK CITY, Utah – A man who was critically wounded after being shot in the head in Park City Monday has died police stated Friday, and authorities anticipate the suspect will face a homicide charge.

Jose Fernandez, 37, was shot in the head at his residence in Park City on Monday, and 27-year-old James Enoch Henfling was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Henfling allegedly shot Fernandez in the head during a physical altercation. Earlier in the week, police stated several people were attending a party when the altercation broke out, and they said alcohol is believed to be a factor.

Park City police stated Friday they anticipate the charge of attempted murder will be amended to a formal charge of homicide.

Fernandez was a bartender, and earlier this week his friends and coworkers spoke about their loved one, who they said was easy-going and well-liked.

“He’s just one of those guys, the minute you meet him you feel like you’ve known him for years,” said Hilary Reiter.
