Donald Trump takes the stage at rally in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY  — Donald Trump was scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. at a rally in Salt Lake City Friday night, and protesters gathered at city hall ahead of the Republican frontrunner’s arrival.

According to Donald Trump’s official website, he was scheduled to speak at 7 p.m. Friday at the Infinity Events Center at 26 E 600 S in Salt Lake City. The Trump campaign said later Friday they expected Trump to arrive at 7:30 p.m.

Streets are closed between West Temple and State Street from 400 South to 600 South due to the rally and the protests.

Utah House Speaker Greg Hughes was speaking to the crowd at the rally ahead of Trump’s arrival.

Meanwhile, more than 200 protesters gathered in the area of city hall, where they shouted things like “Dump Trump” and said a “wall should be built around him.”

Another group of protesters gathered across from the venue.
