BEAVER, Utah — Southbound Interstate 15 near Beaver is reopened after after heavy snow and car accidents shut down the area Saturday morning.
Crashes were between mile markers 93 and 117. According to a Utah Department of Transportation tweet, I-15 seven miles north of Beaver was closed.
One of the crashes left at least one person dead, and police said that woman was on her way to her mother’s funeral in Salt Lake City.
The snow is impacting higher elevation passes near Beaver and in the central Utah mountains. Weather is expected to continue for the next couple hours and become less intense this afternoon, said Steve Rogowski, meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Rogowski said roads are slick and an additional one to two inches of snowfall is expected in the impacted areas.
Rogowski said the Tooele area also received about two inches of snow.
