TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — A woman from Roy was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Tooele County Saturday evening.
According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 5 p.m. on eastbound I-80 near mile marker 74.
The driver of a gray SUV drifted to the left and onto a dirt shoulder of the road for an unknown reason. The driver then over-corrected back to the right, causing the SUV to leave the roadway.
The vehicle overturned and then rolled several times, ejecting the driver. The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene due to injuries suffered in the crash.
Police later identified the woman as 67-year-old Huong Tran Ngo of Roy.
Investigators are looking into the possibility that an improperly worn seat belt contributed to the driver’s death.
There were no other injuries reported. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
