Layton Hills Mall to be closed for Thanksgiving

Posted

LAYTON, Utah — Layton Hills Mall is among the growing number of shopping centers that will be closed on Thanksgiving Day this year.

Earlier this month, Mall of America in Minneapolis released a statement saying they will be closed for Thanksgiving for the first time since 2011. Since then, other stores and malls around the country have also announced they will be closed.

“We want to bring back the excitement of Black Friday shopping as the true start of the holiday shopping season and allow our employees, retailers, and shoppers to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their families,” said Stephen Lebovitz, President and CEO, CBL & Associates Properties, Inc., which owns Layton Hills Mall. “After evaluating feedback from our mall employees, retail partners, and input from our shoppers we determined that this was the best decision for our properties.”

According to a news release, the department stores, movie theaters, and retailers with exterior mall entrances at Layton Hills Mall will still have the option to open on Thanksgiving, but access to the common mall areas will be restricted until 6 a.m. on Black Friday.
