SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Corrections confirmed its first positive case of COVID-19 in a community correctional center Friday.

In a statement released Friday, the Department of Corrections said a man between 45-64 years old has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He is in stable condition and has since been isolated, and UDC staff will work with health personnel to monitor his health.

The man was staying at a community correctional center, or halfway house, since being released from prison in late 2019. His name or the location of the residence are not being released.

UDC officials say the center will be placed on quarantine for at least 14 days, and they are working with state and county health officials to trace possible contact with others.
