MADRID (AP) — The International Olympic Committee has postponed this summer's Tokyo Games for a year as coronavirus deaths mount around the world.
The IOC acted on the recommendation of Japan's Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe, adding the Olympics to a long roster of sports events canceled because of the deadly outbreak.
The IOC says the games will be held “not later than summer 2021” but they will still be called the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
