SCIPIO, Utah — The new Tower Fire near Scipio in Millard County has grown to 1,360 acres, although no evacuations have been issued for the area.
Crews estimate the fire burning about 5 miles southwest of Interstate 15 is 10% contained as of early Monday.
The human-caused fire was sparked just after noon Sunday, though the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
Red Flag Warnings remain in effect for Millard County until 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Millard County Sheriff's Office, as officials said wind and low relative humidity are continuing to increase fire danger.
Crews will continue being taken into the area on Monday, according to officials. They hope to mark more of the perimeter and get a better view of how much has burned so far.
They add that the cooler temperatures overnight Sunday into Monday helped slow the fire down.
Due to the fire, eastbound SR-50 is closed at the I-15 junction to mile marker 155 in Salina. Drivers are being told to avoid the area until the road is reopened at an undetermined time.
