SANPETE COUNTY, Utah — A couple that disappeared after firing on law enforcement officers attempting to serve a warrant in Sanpete County Wednesday have been apprehended.

Brett Gilman Johnson and Jamie Carol Cleghorn escaped after shooting at two Sanpete County deputies and a Fairview Police Department officer. The two reportedly ran off into the mountainside following the incident.

The Sanpete County Sheriff's Office announced on social media the two were taken into custody at 4:45 p.m. Thursday without incident by the Utah County SWAT team. Their capture was helped by following footprints and aided by possible sightings from area residents.

The two were found less than a mile from their home in the Milburn area.

Johnson and Cleghorn were arrested in Gillette, Wyoming after breaking into 17 storage units. The warrant was issued after the couple failed to appear on the charges.
