A deadly crash in Millcreek has I-215 backed up early Friday morning.

Utah Highway Patrol is on the scene where they say a pedestrian was killed.

Lanes are expected to be closed for several hours.

The crash happened on the on-ramp 3800 south onto north bound I-215 just before 5:30 this morning.

UHP Troopers told FOX 13 that a pick up truck heading northbound, for reasons still unknown, somehow lost the trailer it was hauling. That trailer wound up stalled, right in the middle of the freeway, in the pre dawn darkness.

Lt. Swallow said the driver of the vehicle that struck the young man and the driver of that pick up truck remained on scene and are cooperating with investigators.

An accident re-creation team was on scene.

If you need to travel in this direction you’re going to have to get off likely at 4500 S., then take Wasatch Boulevard around the crash scene to get back on 215.

Meanwhile, troopers are in the process of notifying the victims relatives.
