Firefighters with multiple agencies extinguished a fire at Roy motel Monday morning.
According to a Roy Police spokesman, the fire broke out at in a kitchen at Royal Inn & Suites, 5223 S 1900 W, around 6:45 a.m.
People at the motel tried to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived, the Roy PD spokesman said.
Firefighters with the Roy, Riverdale, Ogden, South Ogden Hill Air Force Base fire departments worked together in extinguishing the blaze.
The Utah Department of Transportation reports the fire forced officials to close the right lane of 1900 W in the area.
The fire rendered one of the hotel's units unsafe for occupancy. The Red Cross is assisting two people who were displaced by the fire.
The damage is estimated at $30,000 to $50,000.
Some people were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation, then released. No other injuries were reported and no one else at the motel was displaced.
