SALT LAKE CITY — Intermountain Healthcare is now using its Connect Care service to screen potential COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) patients remotely.

"The Intermountain Connect Care virtual care service allows residents to be screened by a medical professional from the comfort of their home, without potentially exposing others. Residents who think they may have coronavirus-like symptom can be screened using the service and then be advised on appropriate follow up care," a news release from Intermountain Healthcare said.

The health care provider said the use of its Connect Care service has "skyrocketed" in the last two weeks.

Earlier this week, Intermountain Healthcare and other local health care providers announced new policies as COVID-19 continues to spread.

Some of Utah's universities are also taking precautions as students return from spring break trips.
