SALT LAKE CITY — In a tweet released Thursday night, UDOT announced Little Cottonwood Canyon road SR 210 would be closed for avalanche control work.

The closure will be in place from 12:30 a.m. to about 8 a.m., but the schedule is subject to change.
Town Marshal for Alta, Mike Morey, also tweeted warning that if people were parking lot camping in order to avoid the closure, they would be sent back down the canyon.

Don't attempt to parking lot camp in LCC as a way to beat the morning wait. We're actively enforcing this and will be sending people back down the canyon. Unless you have a building to sleep in, you will have to wait outside the canyon. #thanks2020
The purpose of the tests will be to check avalanche control tools in the canyon.
