WASHINGTON TERRACE, Utah — A domestic dispute investigation resulted in an officer-involved shooting in Washington Terrace early Friday morning.

Weber County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a home near 500 W 5000 S to investigate a report of a domestic dispute between a man and his mother.

"When the deputies arrived, they spoke with the mother but the son had left the area," said Lt. Cortney Ryan, Weber County Sheriff's Office.

A few hours later, the Sheriff's Office received a few reports about the suspect, including reports of a couple of hit-and-run crashes in Riverdale and reports of a man stumbling around an apartment complex.

"Another report came in of a male staggering down the road and headed back towards the direction of his home. Officers then went to the gentleman's home, where there was a confrontation at the home and shots were fired," Cortney said.

The suspect suffered a non-life-threatening injury and he went to McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden for treatment. None of the officers suffered injuries.

Police have not released the suspect's name.

The Weber County officer who opened fire is on paid administrative leave.

The Weber County Critical Incident Task Force will investigate the shooting.
