ANTELOPE ISLAND STATE PARK, Utah — A man was critically injured today while trail running at Antelope Island State Park, and officials say he may have been injured by a bison.
According to a press release Saturday, two women who were on the island's lakeside trail encountered a trail runner calling for help.
"The women called 911 and state park personnel responded," the press release stated. "They then promptly administered first aid and called for a medical helicopter to transport the injured man to the University of Utah hospital for further treatment."
Officials say the man, who was identified as being 55, had signs of being attacked by a bison, but there were no known witnesses. The incident remains under investigation as of Saturday.
