SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A motorcycle rider was killed Friday afternoon in an accident on Bangerter Highway in South Jordan.
According to South Jordan Police, a 56-year-old Richard Gomez was riding a motorcycle on southbound Bangerter Highway near 10400 South just before 4 p.m. when the bike locked up, causing him to lose control. He was thrown from the bike, hit his head on the road and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Authorities say he was not wearing a helmet.
No other vehicles were involved.
Bangerter Highway was closed to southbound traffic until about 7:30 p.m.
