PARK CITY, Utah — Police in Park City are revealing more about what led to an hours-long standoff with a man who allegedly broke into the Park City Gun Club and stole several weapons. Abraham Hernandez Duron, 40, was arrested in Park City on Sunday.

In a post to social media, the Summit County Sheriff's Office says the investigation began around 5:30 a.m., when deputies responded to an alarm activation at the Park City Gun Club at 4285 North Forestdale Drive.

Deputies arrived and heard what they believed to be gunshots from inside the club. When investigators contacted the owner of the club, he told them that the building was closed and no one should be inside.

During that conversation with the owner, a deputy was struck on the hand by an unknown object that came from the club.

A man, shortly after, left the club and entered a 2006 Ford Econoline Van before driving away. Deputies told the man to stop and pursued him once he refused to comply.

While officers were following the van, they say it crashed in an area called Trailside. The van allegedly struck a basketball pole and became stuck.

Police called in a SWAT team, and drones confirmed that Duron had a gun on his lap. At one point, officers say Duron placed the gun on the ground outside the van before exiting and being taken into custody.

Investigators say that during the incident, Duron shot 15 times at the gun club towards officers, with 13 of the rounds exiting windows and 2 others penetrating a wall. A search of the van revealed 5 firearms that were taken from the club.

Abraham Hernandez Duron faces charges of aggravated assault targeting law enforcement with bodily injury, aggravated burglary, failure to stop at the command of law enforcement, and several felony discharge of a firearm charges. He is being held without bail.

This is a developing story. FOX 13 News will provide updates as we learn more.
