PARK CITY, Utah — A man was arrested Sunday morning after an hours-long police pursuit following reports of gunshots near Park City.

In a post to social media, the Summit County Sheriff's Office says the investigation began around 5:30 a.m, when deputies responded to an alarm activation at the Park City Gun Club at 4285 North Forestdale Drive.

Once on scene, they heard what they believed were gunshots coming from inside the building. Those same deputies, as well as assisting officers from Park City Police Department, then observed multiple shots being fired from inside the building.

The suspect, a man in his 40's, then exited the building and got into a vehicle. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the suspect fled the scene.

The pursuit ended at Trailside Bike Park, near 5715 Trailside Drive, after the suspect crashed the vehicle. He refused to comply with commands to surrender, leading to a standoff with SWAT that lasted over an hour before he was finally taken into custody.

No shots were fired by law enforcement during the search, but one Summit County Deputy sustained minor injuries, possibly from a bullet ricochet or flying debris during the initial shots from within the gun club.

This is a developing story. FOX 13 News will provide updates as we learn more.
