MAGNA, Utah — One woman is dead after a car accident in Magna on Friday night.

Officials say the woman was driving a Black Hyundai Sonata traveling North on 7200 W. when she ran a red light at the SR 201 intersection.

An Nissan Titan pickup truck traveling East collided with the driver side door of the Sonata.

The 33-year-old woman driving the Sonata died as a result from her injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

The 19-year-old driver and 20-year-old passenger of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries from the crash. They were both wearing seat belts.

Officials say the speed limit in the area is 50 miles per hour, so they think the pickup truck was traveling at or near the speed limit when it collided with the Sonata.

SR 201 EB at 8000 W and the intersection where the crash happened was closed for a few hours early Friday morning, but has since reopened.
