WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — A man was in critical condition Wednesday morning after getting hit by a truck in West Valley City.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of 3100 South and 3200 West.

Investigators said the man was wearing dark clothes and was walking north on 3200 West, right in the middle of the road.

A woman driving a truck in the same direction didn't see the man, and her truck hit him.

"It is unknown why the pedestrian was in the road, the sidewalk was cleared of snow," Sgt. Jason Johnson of the West Valley Police Department said. "We don't suspect drugs or alcohol. It's just unknown why the pedestrian was in the road."

The woman driving the truck stayed on scene and cooperated in the investigation.
