Police have identified 23-year-old Kaitlyn Barron from Salt Lake City as the victim in Monday morning's apparent homicide.

Police say Barron died as a result of blunt force trauma.

According to SSLPD, police received a tip about a deceased female found in a rear parking lot at 2550 S 300 W.

"We are looking at a homicide. The victim on scene, obviously deceased, but is partly disrobed, unclothed. We are treating this as a homicide," said South Salt Lake Police spokeswoman Danielle Croyle.

Detectives are working to gather information, including any surveillance camera footage that might be available, from neighboring business owners. They have also submitted evidence from the scene for forensic analysis.

Anyone with information that may aid SSLPD with the investigation is urged to call the Valley Emergency Communications Center at 801-840-4000.
